All dogs four months or older located within the City of Hermosa Beach must be licensed.
Licenses are valid October 1 thru September 30 of each year.
Licenses must be renewed annually by October 31, failure to do so results in a 50% penalty to the licensing fee.
No person may keep or maintain more than two pets of any kind at a residential dwelling without a permit.
Licenses are only issued for dogs with rabies vaccinations valid through the entire license period. If your dog is unable to re-vaccinate prior to the end of the license period, please contact Finance Cashier.
Altered (spayed / neutered) dogs are eligible for a reduced rate on the license fee. Proof of sterility is required.
Seniors aged sixty years and older are eligible for a reduced rate on the license fee. Proof of age is required.
Service dogs are eligible for a license at no cost. Please apply in person at the Finance Department of the City.
Purchased licenses are non-refundable.
Licenses are not transferable from one dog to another.
Tags must be worn by dogs at all times.
