About licensing,
  • All dogs at least five months of age must be licensed.

  • The standard licensing period runs January 1 to March 31.

  • License applications after March 31 are subject to a late penalty.

  • Licenses may not be transferred from one dog to another.

  • Licenses purchased are non-refundable.

  • Licenses may only be renewed through this website. If you need to purchase a new license, please contact Sawyer County Animal Control.

  • To renew, the dog must be vaccinated against rabies and the vaccination record on file with animal control not be expired.

    New dogs and dogs with an expired rabies vaccination on file must be renewed by mail.

    Mail the valid rabies certificate for all dogs in question, along with appropriate fees [do NOT include Online Fee] to:

    Hayward, WI 54843

    Make checks payable to: Sawyer County Animal Control.
    Your tag and submitted certificate will be mailed back to you.

To renew a license,
  1. Click 'Renew License'.

  2. Provide a past license number. If valid, a shopping cart is made having your renewing licenses.

  3. Click 'Check Out' from within the shopping cart to complete.

Fee applied determined by the spay/neuter status of your prior registration. You can modify dog information, including spay/neuter pricing and indicating dogs are no longer owned, during the checkout process.

Items purchased online are subject to a per item convenience fee, indicated as 'Online Fee'.

Purchases made online are payable using American Express, Discover, Mastercard and Visa credit cards.

Licenses are sent through the postal mail. Please allow up to 10 business days for processing and delivery.

All registrations are subject to review. Knowingly providing false or misleading information can result in penalty, fine or prosecution under the law.
